ABOUT THE SERVICE

We are a growing group looking for fine blacksmiths starting immediately.

As a blacksmith, you manufacture exclusive forged products and metal glass sections. You mainly work with the manufacture of interiors and dressing glass and door sections in different materials. Everything from exclusive wrought iron railings, wine racks & furnishings to clad entrance areas in brass, artwork & signs. You often get a drawing that you have to make according to. The job involves everything from welding to turning, drilling, cutting and bending. You work in various metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, brass and copper.

WHO ARE YOU

You have a few years of experience in forging and are self-sufficient when it comes to manufacturing, welding and drawing reading. Furthermore, you are used to working with different materials and have a certain design knowledge. You are also used to handling common workshop machines such as scissors, press brakes and cutting machines.

In your daily work, you take responsibility for your and others' health and safety. You are fluent in Swedish and / or English in both speech and writing.

B driving license is a requirement.

It is an advantage if you have:

experience in clad metal glass sections with different materials such as stainless steel, copper, brass and aluminum.
have valid welding certificates
hot work / flammable work
lift training
truck card
CPR

Blacksmiths in building forging - Bromma & Järfälla

We have some large forging projects in progress and many exciting projects that are in the starting pit. Therefore, we need to replenish the force with more blacksmiths. We are looking for construction blacksmiths with a location on Lundgrens Smide in Bromma and blacksmiths with a location on The brothers Edding's Forging in Järfälla.

Your work assignments

Your main tasks will be manufacturing and assembly of steel structures as well as repair work. You mainly work on site at our customers or construction sites. Everything from beams, changes and canopies to railings, extension forging and steel stairs. The job involves drawing reading, welding, assembly and customer contacts.

Who are you?

You have a few years of experience and are independent when it comes to manufacturing, welding, assembly and drawing reading. You are used to handling common workshop machines and have some design skills.

In that work, you take responsibility for your and others' health and safety. You are fluent in Swedish and / or English in both speech and writing.

B driving license is a requirement.

Metal craft - create your own objects in wrought iron

Last Saturday it was metalwork with Marco. One of the participants made his own TV stand. She had made a drawing herself, which she had shown us before. She got help from us to buy flat steel and then she made the TV bench with the help of our experienced blacksmith Marco as a course leader. From idea to finished result result!

Our apprentice Tom's degree project

Tom is studying at the Crafts Academy's two-year polytechnic education in traditional crafts. He started with us in August and is in the forging workshop in Bromma four days / week to learn the profession in real life from their experienced supervisors. Tom now has the opportunity to further develop his knowledge, skills and competencies. Among other things, he gets to learn machines, welding techniques, metalworking, materials. He has been involved in manufacturing exclusive wrought iron railings, wine racks, protective products and folding glass sections and also products for our web shop.

Right now he is working on his degree project. He makes a lamp out of cloverleaf. It is a large rectangular lamp that should hang from the ceiling with wires or chains. Tom says that you should be able to put spices etc. on the lamp. It is built of waste plates, which is good for the environment. Tom likes to combine metal and lighting. The lamp must be painted when it is finished because an untreated steel needs to be rust protected. Tom has also started building a smaller oval lamp made of cloverleaf. Clover plate has many areas of use such as valve grilles, element protection, interior details.

It will be exciting to follow Tom's degree project. At the end of May, we will be able to see Tom and the other apprentices' degree projects at the exhibition on Drottninggatan.

Apprentices and trainees

We at Lundgrens are happy to accept apprentices and trainees. Here you can read more about Sam who also attended the Crafts Academy's apprenticeship and did his LIA (learning in working life) with us. For some time now, we have also been accepting people from MISA for work placements.

It feels important to preserve the craft tradition and give students and other interested parties the chance to gain the experience and knowledge they need. It is also a contributing factor to our course activities in welding and metalwork.

Traditional crafts

At the Crafts Academy, you can train in about 80 traditional craft professions. For example smith, upholsterer, cabinetmaker, watchmaker and tattoo. It is a modern apprenticeship to meet the need for a modern workplace-based vocational education today that benefits both industries and students. You spend 80 percent of your lesson time on your apprenticeship. The rest of the time you are in the classroom and learn what you need to know to become a good entrepreneur.

The apprenticeship model is particularly well suited for education in traditional craft professions and is primarily aimed at those of you who have already come a long way towards their profession and may be planning to start their own business after the education. Degree exhibition

The apprentices are allowed to show their degree projects at the exhibition, which concludes the apprenticeship. The exhibition includes a unique collection of high-quality degree projects and objects designed and created by skilled graduating students. Several craft professions are in place. A fun exhibition where you get to take part in interesting masterpieces by real craftsmen.

Exterior door in steel

Right now we are manufacturing a steel front door for a real estate company in Stockholm. The steel door is tailor-made and designed according to the customer's wishes and needs. When it is finished, we will assemble it on site.

A steel door is suitable for you who have high demands both in terms of function and design. An advantage of a steel door is that it can withstand tough wear and with a nice design, it fits in most environments.

Stair railing in wrought iron with guide in oiled oak

Now the custom-made stair railing in handmade wrought iron is in place in a villa in Stockholm. The customer turned to us with a request for a stair railing indoors. He got quick help from our project manager to design the stair railing. When we had the dimensions needed and agreed on the solution, production started in our forging workshop in Bromma. When the wrought iron railing was finished, it was sent to Isaxon's powder coating to get a white color according to the customer's wishes. Then we attached the guides in oiled oak to the overlying flat steel before the railing was mounted on site at the customer's home.

The railing is four meters and made of flat steel and round bars. It is powder coated in white. The wrought iron railing has guides in oiled oak that are screwed to the overlying flat steel.

For thousands of years we have turned forging details

To turning is a technology that has been around for thousands of years. The lathe is namely an old tool that has existed since 1300 BC. It is used for various materials such as wood, metal, plastic and stone.

During the turning, the material spins and a cutting tool moves horizontally, diagnostically or in parallel. The tool cuts material from the raw material and a new shape is created. The metal thus rotates and by machining with cutting tools, smooth and rounded shapes are cut out.

The biggest difference between turning now and in the past is mainly that the cutting tools are made of new materials. In addition, most machines today are CNC-controlled. CNC means Computerized Numerical Control, which is a computer system that controls workshop machines or machines that are programmed numerically. With the help of the control system, you can manufacture complicated parts in a uniform and automatic way.

Forging details for tables

We use our metal lathe frequently. We mainly use it when we make wrought iron details in aluminum, brass, steel and copper. It takes time to learn how the technology works and what to think about to become a skilled lathe operator. Being aware of the risks involved in turning is also important. And of course practice gives skill!

We have some really skilled lathes at Lundgrens. Here is one of those who turn forging details into a table. A glass table top should be on top of the forging details. In any case, I am very impressed by the parts he creates with the lathe!

Finally Monday

The weekend went fast and it's finally Monday, again! That's how it feels when I come to work and see what speed it is in our forging workshop Bromma. Right now, many blacksmiths are in to help with the production of various forges for a larger special forging job. A group manufactures specially ordered entrance parties. Copper plates are patinated, which we then have to cover the underside of a canopy with. We also make forging for luminaires. In addition, it manufactures some other wrought iron railings and patio railings. Another blacksmith is renovating park benches. Everyone is fighting to deliver a good project to a satisfied customer!

Baking / pizza steel breaks new records!

Nice that the warehouse is replenished with new ones back / pizza steel which are packaged and sent across Sweden and also to Norway and Denmark. They have really become popular and we are breaking new sales records all the time! A baking / pizza steel is a hot tip for an Easter gift! Or a tip on a good activity to do with loved ones at Easter. I myself was inspired by a previous customer who this weekend shared pictures of his burgers.

Misa young learns to weld

After lunch came Misa ung to continue his welding course. On six occasions, they get an introduction and try the welding methods TIG, MIG / MAG and MMA. Young talents!

Forging while the iron is hot!

It feels like stepping into a real forge when I open the door to Lundgren's forge. It is beaten, hammered and the ace goes hot. Some of the blacksmiths weld and roll the steel while others grind and scratch their heads when solving a tricky work step. There are blacksmiths everywhere who build unique forged products. In other words, there is a lot of manufacturing right now.

An important tool for one of our blacksmiths right now is ässjan. It is used when he makes specially ordered lamp fixtures in forging. He uses it to heat the metal so that it can be processed correctly. And, then it is important to forge while the iron is hot!

In addition to this, we manufacture giant drawers, tables, wrought iron gates, shelf brackets, metal glass sections and more. We revel in chocolate chocolate day. Furthermore, Marco teaches one or two welding-hungry course participants to weld on ours welding courses. And, not to mention all the customers who come by and shop pizza steel for the perfect pizza!

Brass backrest for sofa

One of our skilled blacksmiths is finished with a specially ordered backrest in brass for a sofa. He made the backrest from scratch and used solder when assembling the parts. Soldering is a very old connection method. The method can be relevant when joining metal objects, where you can neither want nor want to use welding. Welding has a significantly higher working temperature and can be difficult to use with, for example, hard-to-reach joints. The method can also be used to advantage when there is a risk of deformation of temperature-sensitive components, the base materials have different alloys or when different dimensions are to be joined. Furthermore, soldering may become relevant for environmental reasons or when the cost of finishing is too high. The actual joining takes place by heating the parts to be joined together and melting an additive metal, so-called solder or brazing solder.

Soldering is an art and it requires a lot of training and feeling. The method requires some finishing work. In this case, you have had to file and grind down the joint and then polish it up so it gets a perfect finish.
