Time flies and it feels like it's Friday or Monday all the time.
Last week we finished a 15 meter long railing in hot-dip galvanized steel for evacuation in case of fire. It was mounted on the roof of Täby Friskola. A week filled with exciting jobs within forge and glass waiting. We will continue with the noise barrier in Älvsjö, manufacture door sections and guides in stainless steel. It will be full in our forging workshop! We will also start with the facade in corten steel to the new star restaurant on Biskopsudden. Jonas Bohlin, who has been Svenska Brasserier's architect for a long time, is responsible for the design both internally and externally. The restaurant will open 2019/20.

Wow, what time has rushed and winter has collapsed! Just like at Valborg when we light fires to burn up the old and make room for the new, we have made room for our new project management staff. As we said before, it was tough to succeed with the sales in step with our investment. But the way the gang took on the challenge and struggled with sales paid off. They showed that with a little fucking embrace it is possible. So after a long and dark winter, we are finally here and in a few short moments everything is in full bloom. Just as the men's choirs sing about the student's happy days, we ring the order bell for the bright future that is ours! Welcome beautiful May!

Soon you will not be admitted to the construction site
From 20 June, you will need a new ID06 with a more secure card standard. One goal with the new cards is that it will be more difficult to cheat on a building. It is important that you approve the information via the link in your email and identify yourself with a Bank ID. Otherwise the card cannot be produced and if you do not have a new ID06, you will not be admitted to the construction site.
Become a professional at welding with us
We train in welding in different methods and levels. We run welding courses in collaboration with Medborgarskolan and tailor our own welding courses to both individuals and companies. In April, three blacksmiths had the honor of being a welding teacher in the steel workshop Room, detail and materials for KTH's architecture students. It was also the premiere for the new welding course welding for beginners which we run in collaboration with Medborgarskolan. It is aimed at those who want to learn the basics of welding and try welding MMA, MIG / MAG and TIG. In May, we will hold a company-adapted welding course. This autumn we will start with metal handicraft as we will have workshops with access to an equipped workshop, materials and an experienced blacksmith.

Through green steel, we can reduce the climate impact
Recently, the initiative was launched Green Steel which makes it possible to climate compensate our steel use. This is done through afforestation in long-term sustainable projects together with Zero Mission. Behind the investment is MVR and the Norwegian Steel Association. As entrepreneurs, we can profile ourselves and climate compensate our entire business.
Transport and driving are other environmental culprits in our everyday work. But by refueling with fossil-free diesel, we can reduce carbon dioxide emissions for our work cars up to 90 %! A list of filling stations that have HVO100 can be found at Jussi.

Our projects
In April, we continued with the assembly of the door sections for NKV and were almost finished with the first stage. We assembled metal glass sections at Arlanda and shower screens in Kämpetorpshallen. The stainless steel wrought iron railing for the Käppala treatment plant was completed. Furthermore, we did a change, pergola, wrought iron railings and supervisor. We mounted a glass railing with a supervisor in Lidingö City Hall and started with the cover plates in the courtyard of the restaurant on Biskoppsudden. Furthermore, we mounted stainless steel cover plates and holders for door cards. We mounted the glass section to the entrance of Clarion Hotel and put glass in the glass café. In addition to this, we continued with the forge in brass to NK, wine places to Magnusson Fine Wine and the corner guards to Södersjukhuset. We also installed corner profiles and roof fittings in Audio bilhall.
In May, we will start with a noise barrier, crash protection, door sections, wrought iron railings, changes, etc.
The brothers Edding's Forging
The brothers Edding's Forging made glass sections for a wine cellar, standing tables for Brillo and wine cabinets for Janax Snickerier. They made a table stand in stainless steel and a sink as well as a forging job for Järfälla municipality. They were at full speed on kv Stettin where the gang mounted balcony and terrace railings. In May, the facade panels will be installed. Furthermore, Eddings began assembling supervisors for four stairwells. They manufactured castings for the National Arena and clad a switchgear with aluminum for kv Brädstapeln. They continued with the production of the wrought iron railings for Kallhäll Centrum and now they are working on the stair railings in stainless steel.

Today was Gert's last day at Lundgren Smide and the gang thanked him in the wonderful spring weather.
Gert began his career at Lundgren Smide in 1974 as a blacksmith. He was an experienced welder when he came to Lundgren Smide and with his skills we started to take on heavier forging jobs. One of Gert's first projects was the metro in Hallonbergen. Even then we did work for SL! We could write a whole book about the projects that Gert has worked on forge and glass first as a blacksmith and then as a project manager. Some he will remember are the specially ordered glass sections for Djurkyrkogården, the teddy bear beams during the rebuilding of the former grocery store in Sumpan and the occasional classified job. He was also involved in building the smithy which we are sitting in now.
Gert thinks that it has been a fun time at Lundgren Smide and that the years have passed very quickly. The job has never been boring and he has learned new things all the time. Gert is a well-known face and over the years he has met many customers and colleagues. He has worked at Lundgren's for three family generations and he has survived a number of CEOs. He has been through both tough and bright times in Lundgren Smide's history. Gert was present at the time when the employees had to collect their salary in an envelope every week and when we had a foreman. It has been a journey until today when we take care of most things in the cloud and spend a lot of time on administration.
Gert believes that it will go well for Lundgren Smide in the future. We have brought in a bunch of talented project managers and we have many good blacksmiths. The market looks good and there are plenty of forging jobs!
Gert is a rock that we want to thank for all his years at Lundgren's. It will be empty without him and we will lack his enormous skills and craftsmanship. We wish Gert the best of luck with his new adventures as a pensioner!

The welding booth is ready for today, it is finally the premiere for the brand new welding course welding for beginners which we run in collaboration with Medborgarskolan. This course is aimed at those who want to learn welding. They will get an introduction and try welding MMA, MIG / MAG and TIG. The goal is for the participants to learn the basics of welding by understanding the welding technique and which technology best suits what. The course is held during the day with Lundgren's experienced blacksmith and skilled welder Wille as course leader.

Three blacksmiths had the honor of being a welding teacher for the steel workshop Room, detail and materials for KTH's architecture students. They gave advice and guidance when the students worked in the workshop with their production drawings. Very fun and educational!
It was the end of three welding courses in pin welding and all participants were approved. That, if anything, is proof that Samer and Yosef have succeeded as course leaders! It was too welder test for five of our blacksmiths. The welding inspector gave them very nice feedback for their awesome welds.

We thanked Bosse for his nine years at Lundgren's with good cakes from Bageri Passion. Bosse has run many projects within forge and glass sections in Stockholm and has, among other things, built a number of barrier kiosks for Stockholm's metro stations. He has also made the finest metal glass parts in Lundgren's history. Namely about 60 patinated and copper-clad glass sections manufactured in our forging workshop. We dare say that these are the world's finest metal glass parts! We wish Bosse good luck with his life as a pensioner and we will miss him and his technical skills!

"It looks very good!" was the welding inspector's first comment when he saw Tomasz's welding. After a thorough review of the test result, he was approved. Right now, Tomasz and four other blacksmiths are putting in welding samples MMA and MAG in our forging workshop. They need to renew their certificates.
Tonight, the welding course begins where ten participants will take welding tests. On Tuesday, eight participants took tests in MMA and all were approved.
