Lundgren AB's monthly letter August 2018 - everything in forging

Welcome back after the holidays!

In recent weeks, we woke up from the holiday hibernation and began to return to work. Now most people are in place after a fantastic summer. There is something certain about entering the second half when everything will be decided. We look forward to this autumn's projects and exciting challenges. With charged batteries, it will be full speed again. Then it can be good to bring out the summer's wonderful memories. We wish you a good start after the holidays. Here we go!

Results

As we wrote in last month's letter, we achieved a very strong half-year result. Extra fun was that The brothers Edding's Forging sold as much in the first half of the year as they did in the whole year before! To maintain the good result, we need to capture more business and find talent who can carry out our projects. The older generation needs to apple their invaluable knowledge.

From blacksmith to star salesman!

When I started at LUNDGRENS four years ago, it felt like swearing in church when we talked about sales. No one immediately wanted to feel that they were working with sales. We had our customers and they were the ones who came to us. But, that was not enough for us to reach our growth goals. So we decided to make a bet. We selected six blacksmiths who learned what sales are all about. They received sales coaching and attended Mikael Arndt´'s sales training Mästaren. It was a successful venture because today Adam, Berhane, Mauricio, Mosaad and Yosef work actively with sales and run their own projects.

Today we talk about sales in a completely different way. It no longer feels strange to say that we have to sell more in order to reach our goals. We need to put both time and energy into ensuring that our existing customers are satisfied and that we get new ones. Not everyone may be a salesperson, but everyone at LUNDGRENS sells no matter what we work with!

Available positions

The market remains hot and there is a high demand for our products and services. We are therefore looking for more forward-leaning project managers. As the jobs roll in, we will need to add blacksmiths and fitters. We are also looking for a workshop manager who can take care of the operations at the workshop so that it works in the best possible way. LUNDGRENS also needs a doer in HR, payroll and administration. Keep an eye out for spring website for more information and application.

The move

We are looking for a new forging workshop to move our business to. As soon as we have any information, we will share it. If you know someone who is looking for a collaboration, wants to sell a plot or forging workshop in Stockholm, get in touch. We would prefer to buy a forging workshop or plot in the north, but are also open to other opportunities or locations. We have rented out the plot in Rissne for one year.

Motorcycle ambulances for reduced maternal mortality

Eezer will deliver two motorcycle trailers in Burundi at the end of October. They need two fearless and energetic people with them who can assemble the crew on site. Let us know if you are interested in joining.

Our projects

We have some capacity left over at present and therefore have the opportunity to provide fast service to our customers. In August manufactured and assembled blue team (throw) spiral stairs and straight stairs. They made three glass sections and furnishings. They also started with a forging job for DLP where they will assemble aluminum beams for their waste management. Domenykas and Elvis did a good job of assembling the stairs to Reomti Bygg AB. The team started with the production of forging for Jägarbacken. However, the assembly was delayed by the customer. There was also a delay in the installation of alternating beams for the attic apartment at Essingen.

The green team (glass and metal parts) continued with the copper-clad metal sections to Husfrun. There were various additions to Slussen with elevator fronts in stainless steel, reinforcement plates under elevator doors and a wrought iron railing. They also did a guaranteed job at the National Museum. Furthermore, the team did the last thing with the glass parts for kv Blicken i Handen. The glass wall at Lidingö City Hall was also completed.

The Red Team (interior design) started with the production of the glass cafeteria on Ringvägen 100. They made furnishings in wrought iron Fabrique Stenugnsbageri which will open a new café on Klarabergsgatan. They also made corten plates for the Workman event and made a cooker hood. They made ten tubs in aluminum, a railing with a gate to Järfälla swimming hall and a stainless steel railing to Tyresö swimming hall. They also started with a glass wall and a spiral staircase.

The yellow team (forging and construction service) completed the assembly of the steel frame on On Track at Älvsjö station. Now only the glazing remains before the second sound wall is finished for the newly produced homes. The forging job at Bjursätra preschool was almost completed and now only the last perforated plates are to be assembled. The assembly of the indoor steel doors at Vinstaskolan was in progress. In addition to this, the team manufactured and assembled a custom railing and a gate. They made variety beams and made 12 molds. Furthermore, they made five black-lacquered custom-made stair railings. They started with metal glass sections at Karolinska for In3prenör.

In September, the installation of the barrier kiosk at Vega commuter train station in Haninge awaits. We will make three fire-rated sections and two steel glass sections in stainless steel. Furthermore, table legs and a steel frame are waiting for a kitchen as well as a sheet metal cladding of an arch on Sveavägen.

The Eddings brothers
At Eddings it was full speed ahead. 8-10 men were running in the new emergency care building at Danderyd Hospital. In addition to MT steel and complementary forging, they will deliver six door sections in the coming weeks. Furthermore, Edding did work at the new Karolinska where they are adapting the roof construction for new hospital equipment in three operating rooms. They will also clad elevator fronts in mirror-polished stainless steel on eight floors at Trygg Hansa Huset. Furthermore, they began to prepare a little before the assembly of 28 glass sections for H&M with TL Bygg as customer. The job includes dismantling of existing lots. The project will run until November.
