The Kenyan travelers are back

Kenyan travelers Axel, Bahman, David, Jimmy and Richard are now back. During the week, they have, among other things, been involved in handing over two motorcycle ambulances, visited schools, been to Massaiby and helped to repair a real ambulance. Many interesting meetings and strong impressions. We look forward to continued collaboration with Eezer in their work to reduce maternal mortality. Through our knowledge, we believe that we can be involved and make a difference. Thank you to everyone at LUNDGRENS who makes this possible!

Moment Sam Hammarström who is training to be a traditional blacksmith

I was completely enchanted when I saw a blacksmith for the first time! I was 6 years old and was fascinated by when it struck sparks when he hammered. That was already when I decided what I wanted to do - I would become a blacksmith!

Through the Crafts Academy's apprenticeship training, I started as an apprentice at Lundgren's in 2010. I had actually imagined traditional blacksmithing, but still wanted to test to get the breadth. It was a fun and educational time. A year ago, I took the step further and began Sätergläntan's vocational training, which is a traditional forging training. During the first year, we had to work with tool forging, mill forging and art forging. We learned hand tools and how iron and steel can be processed using different forging methods. To some extent, we also learned modern methods for keeping up with developments. So far, metallurgy has been the most fun! I have just started my second year. This year we will immerse ourselves and learn more complicated things. We will go on an inspiration journey and recreate old objects. It feels right and I'm happy so far. It already feels like I have a good foundation to stand on.

My goal is to open my own and work with private individuals. The dream is a farm in Dalarna with a barn where I can have my workshop. I thrive in Dalarna and I like traditions, which are plentiful here. Jag is open to specialization, everything from commissioned work to mass production. I like things that have a function. There are plenty of forging jobs so I'll see where it leads!

Monthly newsletter August

Welcome back! Hope you had a really nice and wonderful summer! We look forward to an autumn that offers very exciting and many challenges - new colleagues and suppliers, appealing, fun projects, team building, Kenyaresa etc.

Motorcycle ambulances for reduced maternal mortality

Did you know that a woman dies every minute due to complications associated with her pregnancy or childbirth? 99 percent of all the hundreds of thousands of women who die live in low-income countries, of which three quarters in Africa. In Tanzania, 23 women die every day from complications associated with childbirth. Almost one an hour! Transport between home and maternity clinic is often a bottleneck that the development project Eezer is trying to solve with the help of motorcycle-based ambulances. When these motorcycle ambulances appeared on Facebook, we immediately became interested in knowing more. We wanted to find something to get involved in where LUNDGRENS can make a difference.

In September, LUNDGRENS will accompany Eezer to Kenya to test the crew in the right environment and build relationships with two organizations that will use these ambulances in the future. They will also test a tracking system in the field. For LUNDGREN's part, it will primarily be an orientation trip where we get to see on site what Eezer is trying to do and what conditions there are for working down there. In the long term, we hope to be able to contribute with concrete efforts within what we are good at. With our five doers who will accompany us on the journey, the ideas have already begun to flow. It will be very exciting to follow the journey on Facebook @eezerinitiative and AL Lundgren, among others. You can read more about the concept of www.eezer.se

Welding courses

Two years ago, we started running welding courses in collaboration with Medborgarskolan with our skilled blacksmiths as course leaders. This week, three new welding courses in MMA and a pilot course in TIG started. It's fun that the interest in welding is so great. Everything from the 80-year-old who dreamed of learning to weld to those who need a welding certificate at work. 99 % of all participants have so far passed the welder test. A receipt for good course leaders!

A historic step in LUNDGREN's development

In August, we took the step from a small company to a medium-sized company. We are now over 50 employees! In addition, we employ temporary staff and trainees. What a fantastic bunch we have that is at the customers' disposal!

Teamwork

There are many new ones at LUNDGRENS. How do we create and nurture close teamwork and a family team spirit as we grow? How do we build one Culture where we thrive and have fun together? Team spirit is not something that arises by itself. It is required that we work towards common goals and get to know each other, thrive and have fun together. We often know too little about each other and what we can and we do not understand each other's roles. But, the more we know about each other the better we will work together. This is when we can benefit from each other's knowledge and personalities and the team becomes a means to achieve set goals. Therefore, it is important that the team trips are off for us to develop and nurture our teams. And, to build a positive Culture.

5 S

We need 5 S more than ever. We are cramped. For that reason, we need to create more production space and better order in the workshop for the jobs to flow in a safe and pleasant working environment. So throw everything away unnecessarily and make sure that every thing has its place. Once you have done that, you are ready to create the rules and routines that must be followed. Everyone at LUNDGRENS must belong to a group - new and old. Now we start with the 5 S work, again!

Our projects

In August, we manufactured exclusive specially designed railings for NCC for Urskogen's preschool. It was full speed ahead at IBM with stairs, pergola and glass sections. Blue team reassembled Paroc walls and manufactured sheet metal cladding for Söderenergi in Södertälje. They repaired two signs in front of the Enforcement Officer's entrance in Sundbyberg. Furthermore, the team repaired the railings in Hammarby Sjöstad and installed a traverse track for Rexab in Ringen's shopping center. They installed a floor for a terrace at Kv Eken in Sundbyberg. The second half started a bit bumpy at Danderyd with many obstacles and stops. The team therefore had to help in other projects. However, there were some additional orders so now some are running again at Danderyd. In September, the team will assemble an entrance lot to TL Bygg.

The green team continued with the production of copper-clad batches for Husfrun. They were completed at Strand Hotel and St. Göran's Hospital. It went well despite the fact that it is a bit of a chore with door replacements in public environments. Furthermore, the team worked on forging jobs on Grev Turegatan and various smaller forging jobs. Gert received an order for 45 doors to be replaced at Svenska bostäder in Gubbängen. The red team was working on refrigerators for the star chefs' meat shop, which will open on S: t Eriksgatan this autumn. They worked with a glass section for Jonas Bohlin Arkitektkontor. Then they should start with straight glass and a door section in copper. Gula team did the last thing before the final inspection in the Teaching House at KTH. They also did forging jobs at the Concert Hall and door assembly.

Moments in the Teaching House at KTH

Right now, the last finishing touches are underway before the final inspection in the Teaching House at KTH! Most things are almost clear and only a few small things remain. The team is working full time to get ready for tomorrow. The project started before Christmas with molded galvanized strips around all the windows on the outside. Then they put plates at the entrances with grilles on top. See and enjoy - the result was great!

Monthly newsletter July

Stålräcke aritektskolan

Unbelievable!

What a half-year result it was for us! During the first six months of the year, net sales rose to SEK 31.9 million. This was an increase of 20 percent compared with the same period in 2016. The operating profit landed at a record SEK 3.5 million! The first half is important and creates conditions for the second half. The second half is most important, it determines the whole result. There are good conditions for the trend to continue. Demand is high and we have a cruel workforce. During the second half, we will continue to focus on recruitment and capturing more business!

Why say no when we can say yes?

We have an interesting situation to solve. The high pressure continues and we have a workshop with limited space. We do not want to say no to an order because we have a full workshop. That is why we look up and focus on new solutions that actually exist around us. Already today we buy a large part of the heavier forging and standard products. We will make an effort to develop the collaboration with existing suppliers and find more that we can hire. All in accordance with the business' requirements for quality and that we live up to our commitments to the customer. It is important that we manage deliveries on time and with promised quality. In the workshop, we will continue with special manufacturing such as clad parts, interior design etc.

Welcome to the gang!

Having a need for staff is positive. It is a receipt that customers demand our products and services. This summer we hired Rozbeh as a driver and Romodan and Ghinia as blacksmiths. In addition to this, we received the trainees Elvis, Ali and Festus from Crossroads Stockholm City Mission who help EU citizens into work.

In February, I was given the challenge of recruiting 1-2 project managers. No easy task considering that there are major recruitment difficulties for all professions in the entire construction industry right now. It was important to find employees with the right skills and the right ability and attitude for the work to be performed. I got started and started looking in different channels, conducting a large number of interviews, reference shootings, etc. In the end, we found four project managers who will start in August. It is David who is a great seller and buyer, Syed with experience in architecture and interior design and who is great at CAD drawings and constructions. Sébastien who is an experienced project manager in the construction industry and Riyam with great interest in project management and environmental issues. Richard will apple (TM Richard Lundgren) and contribute with their expertise and above all technical knowledge in forging. Affe will also be part of the team. Together, they will develop cooperation with existing suppliers and find new ones.

Culture

A good day for me is usually when I had fun. It can be when I get to perform and do something new at work or when I hang out with friends and family. We spend about 50 percent of our waking time at work. In other words, it is important to feel good and have fun at work. We are convinced that both LUNDGREN's profitability and your health and well-being will increase if you have fun at work. We want LUNDGRENS to be a workplace where we laugh together, share our ideas and knowledge, dare to make mistakes, are generous with praise and compliments, have coffee together and celebrate success. All in a positive atmosphere where there is a sense of community and joy that makes the job more fun and that we collaborate better and become more efficient! If we have a positive attitude, look up and see new opportunities, luck will come with us. Luck comes with those who expect something good and who have positive expectations that surpass adversity.

The move

It recently became clear that we will be able to remain in our existing premises until April 2019.

Ouch!

In July, unfortunately, an occupational injury occurred when a beam was to be lifted. Wrong lifting technique was used and the back was beaten. Lifting and carrying heavy loads is one of the daily chores in our work. Many work injuries are due to incorrect loading of the body. Improper lifting technology, one-sided work, poor equipment and incorrectly designed workplaces are just a few factors that can cause problems. To spare the body, it is important that you have knowledge of how to lift in the best way. The most common mistake is to lift with our backs instead of our legs. It is important that we learn a good lifting technique and use it. Education will come this fall.

Our projects

Blue team continued with the Hilton district, the attic renovation and Söderenergi. They worked in the LA Group's project for IBM in Kista with pergola smithy, stairs, glass railings and doors. According to the plan, the project will be completed in September. They were busy with the new emergency care building at Danderyd. They manufactured and assembled, among other things, two door enclosures, 150 steel frames and elevator beams. The team thought it was an educational first half and they feel satisfied. They will take the lessons into the second half. They are tagged and convinced that they will make an even better second half together. The green team completed the barrier kiosk in Jakobsberg and managed a good distance with the barrier kiosks at Södra station. The elevator shaft at the National Museum was completed where they will assemble two sections. Furthermore, the team installed a door at the National Arena and Husfrun was in full swing with e.g. manufacture of copper clad parts.  The red team manufactured furnishings and lots for the meat shop AG. Gula team fought into the last at KTH. Little grid remains. In addition to this, they manufactured glass sections, doors, railings and canopies.

No, not with us! During the worst holiday week, we have 26 blacksmiths and fitters running and ten people are on site in the office! The workshop is full to the brim manufacture of copper-clad sections, restaurant furnishings, etc. The rest of the gang is out on construction sites around Stockholm. Others enjoy a well-deserved vacation!

Monthly newsletter June

Spiraltrappa Danderyd
Spiral staircase Danderyd

It is holiday time and so it is for us at LUNDGRENS. We will be open all summer and have a lot of projects underway. We hope that everyone can have indulgence and understanding of the pressured work situation this summer. We will do our best to find solutions and answer inquiries and questions.

We need to become more blacksmiths, fitters and project managers!

LUNDGRENS is constantly looking for skilled and committed employees to be able to grow in step with development. We are looking for employees who share our values and want to be involved and contribute to the development and make a difference for our customers.

In nine out of ten cases, the difference between a successful and a less successful recruitment is the candidate's attitude and attitude to the job. That is, how the candidate fits into the gang and how he or she takes on his or her duties. It never has to do with a resume. We strive to maintain our strong and positive corporate culture where you as an employee are involved in the company's development, can influence and have fun together. For the right person, the development opportunities are good. We are very proud of the competence and broad experience that exists today. We have never had such a good strength as now! And, we need more to be able to do even more business!

Great job!

We gathered one afternoon in June at the workshop with the challenge of making at least 20 improvements over three hours. The 5 S-groups got started and made a total of 34 improvements! It was fantastic to see everyone working towards the common goal - a better and safer workplace with higher well-being and better profitability. I saw commitment, creativity, cooperation, humor, sweat and pride. Storage spaces, stump racks, common tool boards, bench for the changing room, new cutlery and sorting of materials were some of the improvements. Now we will continue to work towards the goal and make even more improvements. It's just rubbing because we're well on our way. The only way to reach the goal is to take one step forward and then one more and one more. If we do that and stick to a certain direction, we will reach where we want. It's actually not harder than that!

Summer party

We celebrated the summer together at Djurgårdsbrunn's inn. It was a great evening with lots of laughter, boules, barbecue buffet, barbecue tips, games and awards! Thank you to everyone who came and contributed to a great summer party!

Our projects

In June mounted THE BLUE GROUP stairs in Kista, variety beams at the Royal Tennis Hall and paroc elements at Söderenergi. They mounted anchor rails on seven floors to an elevator shaft on Strandvägen. They will now rebuild the top of the lift and strengthen it with beams in the attic. Furthermore, the group worked with the shaft and the fan room at kv Hilton and mounted a glass section at kv Kabeln. In addition to this, they manufactured a railing for a villa and did various service work for Etab and Eltel. They also manufactured 250 adjustment rods that will be placed at various train stations in Stockholm to secure monitors with traffic information. The new emergency room at Danderyd Hospital was in full swing, where the gang, among other things, mounted grid and made some additional orders. The group introduced delivery within 24 hours at ÄTA-jobb !! After the holidays, Jästbolaget is on tour with a container garage, license plates and some service work.

THE GREEN GROUP continued with Housewife. The National Museum got the elevator shaft at the entrance on site. Brass moldings are made for the group to cover the shaft with and glazing with Hammerglas is underway. The group also started with another barrier kiosk to Södra Station. In addition to this, they were at S: Göran's hospital to exchange a total of 20 doors for Skanska. There are a couple of doors left that will be completed in July. Metrolit is in the process of a major renovation of the Strand hotel on Nybrokajen. In collaboration with Besam, we changed the entrance and a couple of interior parts that will be completed in July. Furthermore, the group began to install wall panels, elevator fronts and sections in Trygg Hansa's head office on Kungsholmen. In July, a couple of forging jobs for ML Demo on Grev Turegatan / Humlegårdsgatan will start.

THE RED GROUP manufactured glass walls for Jureskog. They started with the new meat shop for AG, where they will manufacture and assemble wine racks, service counters, refrigerators, etc., which will be ready by the end of October. The group also made two glass sections and a railing for the School of Architecture.  YELLOW GROUP was busy with various service work such as changing hinges at Norrtäljeanstalten. It was full swing at KTH and they made a spiral staircase in Danderyd and a canopy to Sturehof. In addition to this, they did blacksmithing work in the Concert Hall, a railing, a change to Fridhemsplan and a glass wall to Olle Rex.

Have a wonderful summer!

It is a wonderful time ahead of us. We get to enjoy beautiful summer days and some well-deserved holidays. Expectations are never as high as before the summer holidays. It is important to take advantage of the time. When it is dark and cold, it is this time that we will long to return to and remember. Therefore, you should think about what you need to do to enjoy your vacation. My advice is to put desire and will before musts and demands. Let the grass grow and let the time be! Allow yourself to relax and enjoy. You're worth it!

We at LUNDGRENS wish everyone a wonderful summer! We want to thank you for an absolutely fantastic first half year! Staff, customers and suppliers! Without you we are nothing!
