Friday coziness

The work week is over and it's time to recharge with loved ones before the weekend. Start the weekend by visiting AG Kötthandel on S: t Eriksgatan where you can buy good meat and enjoy nice furnishings. In 2017, we did the decor in forging to the store. We manufactured and assembled, among other things, the meat coolers and the glass rack in brass. The result was outstanding!

Moments in the forging workshop - a normal Thursday

Walking around the forging workshop with good music in the background and looking at everything nice that is made in our forging workshop is a nice feeling.

In part of the workshop, there are a bunch of welding course participants trying to learn how to weld. There are many who have never held a weld before. They wear pin welding and get to try TIG and MIG welding for the first time. Some seem to have a talent for welding!

Next to the welding course participants, production is in full swing. The blacksmiths manufacture railings and steel glass sections to the full. Some stand and talk to each other about which date suits them best for a team trip.

Inside the small workshop, the machines get hot and materials are moved. Out in the yard, our workshop manager receives a glass delivery. At the mezzanine level, our latest addition, Ibbe, manufactures an exclusive wrought iron gate. He's done with one and now he's working on the next.

Inside the office, some concentrated project managers are sitting and counting on jobs while I hear someone in the background running a sales pitch on the phone.

Finally, I pass the coffee room where some decent soul has served ice cream. What tastes better on a day like this when it's summer heat outside ??

Forge & glass (and ice cream) world class!

Monthly letter August 2019 - everything in forging & glass

Welcome back!

Hope your summer has been good and that you feel charged for the challenges of autumn. It feels good to have all the strength back.

Fridhemsplan has opened as planned

Many thanks to everyone who stood up and helped us to implement the Fridhemsplan project. Getting through such a large project in a short time in the middle of summer is both challenging and fun. It was an outstanding team that fought and showed that they could solve the challenges that arose in a good way. It made us feel confident that we would be able to do the job. The gang mounted steel frames and sheet metal cassettes on the track side. They turned the steel frame into a lamp fixture as well as the glass railings and guides. We finished the first part on time and the station can open as planned. Now we will complete the last part of the project.

Bright, fresh and high ceilings

We have been sitting in our forging workshop by Bällstaån since the 70s. In recent years, there has been a transformation of the industrial area into housing, parks and walkways and it is not so strange that we have to move away from our dear forging workshop. But, a new forging workshop in Bromma is waiting for us. It is light, fresh and has a high ceiling height. When the rebuilding of the public spaces is complete, we will start moving in and in February the move will be completed.

Eezer - Kenyaresor

It is a very special feeling that arises when we get to be involved and make a difference. It is a warm feeling in the heart that occurs when Eezer's ambulance ambulances transform a person's day from horrible to fantastic. Seeing the results of Eezer's work on site in Africa is an indescribable feeling. This is exactly what both Javier and Richard experienced when they went on a follow-up trip with Eezer in August.

For two years we have been involved in Eezer. Among other things, we have built ambulance carriages in our forging workshop that currently runs in Africa and trained local people in Burundi in building carriages. Regardless of whether you have contributed with concrete efforts or not, it is we together who make it possible for us to get involved in Eezer.

Our projects

In August, the Fridhemsplan project was full. In addition, we installed wrought iron gates and railings at the Turkish Embassy, made metal glass sections for Bromma Church, interior forging, variations and wine rack. We also continued with the corten facade on Biskoppsudden. Three full welding courses also started.

With charged batteries, we look forward to this autumn's exciting project within forge & glass and to row together the move to new fresh premises. Autumn 2019 will be a fun autumn - now we're driving!

Current dates in September 2019

  • Thursday 5 September Deadline salary

A new gang on their way to Kenya

At the same time as a satisfied Eezer gang is sitting on the plane home from Kenya, a new expectant gang is on its way with twelve tagged participants. One of them is our CEO Richard who is making his third Eezer trip to Africa.

It all started two years ago when Eezer's ambulance vans appeared on Facebook and aroused Richard's curiosity. He wanted to find a project that Lundgren could get involved in. Shortly afterwards, Richard and four colleagues went on a trip to Kenya with Eezer to see what they are trying to do and what conditions are in place. They were completely sold when they saw that there were concrete efforts that we at Lundgrens can contribute within what they are good at - welding, building and repairing things.

That is the way it is and today is Eezer Lundgren's most important project. Among other things, we have built ambulance carriages in our forging workshop that currently runs in Africa and we have trained local people in Burundi in building carriages. We have made follow-up trips and seen with our own eyes that the carriages are actually used and save lives in the African countryside.

Charged for a new Eezer adventure

Richard travels to Africa for the third time and is charged and full of expectations.

-I looking forward to making this journey together with both old and new Eezeram ambassadors. It will be fun to visit Masai villages, deliver a new wagon and visit the village Olgulului where one of the crews has been around for just over a year. It is fantastic to see the results of Eezer's work on site and that the wagons make a difference in people's lives. Today, about 30 motorcycle ambulances are rolling and the hope is that Eezer will increase the volumes in the next step, says Richard.

During these trips, there will be long distances to ride the bikes. We will travel from Nairobi to Mombasa round trip. In my luggage I have motorcycle clothes and some tools with me. I also have toys with me that my children want me to give to the children in Africa, says Richard.

Maternal mortality is high

Did you know that a woman dies every minute due to complications associated with her pregnancy or childbirth? 99 percent of all the hundreds of thousands of women who die live in low-income countries, of which three quarters in Africa. In Tanzania, 23 women die every day from complications associated with childbirth. Almost one an hour! Transport between home and maternity clinic is often a bottleneck that the Eezer Initiative tries to solve with the help of motorcycle-based ambulances. Maternal mortality is high in many parts of the world. The UN's goal is to reduce maternal mortality in the world to 70 deaths per 10000 births by 2030.

Facts about Eezer

The Eezer Initiative is a Swedish network of individuals, organizations and companies that actively cooperate to reduce maternal mortality in the African countryside. There is often a lack of means of transport to healthcare and Eezer is trying to solve this with the help of motorcycle-based ambulances. These motorcycle ambulances must cope with the difficult terrain in the African countryside. The motorcycle trolleys have been developed in collaboration with the companies Industriverktyg, Lundgrens Smide and Devex Mekatronik. The goal is for the construction to be easy to manufacture locally.

Today, several motorcycle ambulances in Kenya and Tanzania, among others, are rolling ready to quickly transport pregnant women to the nearest clinic when it is time to give birth. The goal in the pilot phase is to deliver 30 crews in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Congo. Based on those experiences, the goal is to manufacture another 300 crews in phase two. In addition to saving lives, there is another goal and that is to create jobs.

The financing of the project takes place partly through voluntary contributions from both individuals and companies, and partly through gifts, monthly donors and corporate sponsorship. For those who want to get involved in Eezer's work, trips are arranged where you can see and experience the business on site. You can choose to ride a motorcycle or car.

Towards Kenya

Tonight, our doer Javier is going to Kenya on a follow-up trip together with the Eezer Initiative. For ten days, the gang will visit clinics and organizations that Eezer collaborates with to reduce maternal mortality in the African countryside. They will also follow up on already delivered motorcycle ambulances that transport pregnant women to clinics when they are about to give birth.

Javier has an assignment during the trip and it is to repair a motorcycle tow. It feels fun that we at Lundgren's can be involved and help with what we are good at. Namely to weld, build and repair things. This trip is also accompanied by Bike Babes member Ulrika Bohlin, to whom we have awarded a travel scholarship. We think she's going to be an excellent Ezer Ambassador!

This is Lundgren's fourth trip to Kenya. Together with Eezer, we have been to Kenya, Tanzania and built Mc ambulances in Burundi. Already on August 24, it's time again when Richard goes on a trip to southern Kenya and Mombasa.

Facts

Maternal mortality is high in many parts of the world. In Kenya, 400 out of 100,000 mothers die in connection with pregnancy, the same figure in Sweden is 4. The UN's goal is to reduce maternal mortality in the world to 70 deaths per 100,000 births by 2030.

Monthly newsletter July 2019 - everything in forging & glass

The forging workshop is in full swing! We manufacture wrought iron railings, door sections, napkin rings, wine racks, wrought iron gates. In addition, we install beams and sheet metal walls out on the construction site. We fight for everything to roll on according to set time frames. Everyone does a great job!

Exciting times

We have a busy month ahead of us with forging jobs under tight schedules. That we cooperate in a good way towards the goal is required for us to be able to perform at the top. The curtain facade for the new star restaurant on Biskoppsudden will also be completed. Right now, Eddings is working on a major forging job at Lidl under the management of Valle, and soon they will start manufacturing restaurant furnishings.

Teamwork

We are charging for the follow-up trips to Kenya with Eezer as two representatives from Lundgren's will follow Eezer's work and its development on site. They will visit clinics and organizations that Eezer cooperates to reduce maternal mortality in African rural areas. In addition, they will follow up already delivered motorcycle ambulances that transport pregnant women to clinics when they are about to give birth. It will be exciting to follow their inner and outer journey with high-flying, emotionally touching encounters, adorable Eezer babies and the occasional giraffe!

Meeting with three Eezer babies May 2018

In addition, we are preparing for the move to our new workshop. Some rebuilding of the premises will take place before we move over parts of the business.

Everyone can weld!

Even if you have never held a weld before, you can easily learn to weld. Come on our welding evenings and you will see! Sure, it takes a little practice. But, if you take a welding course with our skilled blacksmiths as a course leader, you will be so sure that after eight meetings you pass a welder test and get your first welding certificate. For those of you who can already weld and want to build, for example, a candlestick or a table, we will open up our forging workshop for metal handicraft. For more information and registration see here or contact tell us more. Once you have started welding, you do not want to stop!

A tip for a fun competition!

Every month, everyone can contribute to the picture of the month. The winner is published in our monthly newsletter. Other photos are published in our social media and on the website. We receive pictures ranging from our projects in forging and glass to pictures of our wonderful gang. Feel free to follow us Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin then you get to take part in life at Lundgrens. The winning entry for July was presented by Fathi with the image "Visual inspection of weld". Congratulations!

Before the summer we drove spring 5 S-day and shoved away what we have a hard time keeping up with in everyday life. This summer we take a break from our 5 S meetings. However, it is important that we maintain the good order we have created so that we do not have to start again from step 1 until the autumn.

Our projects

In June, there was full focus on our ongoing projects in forging and glass. There were crop beams, glass walls and door sections going on. We made additions to existing doors at NKS. A team installed an ALU ramp and door frames. Other projects we worked on were assembly of door sections in Uppsala, forging work for NCC and Bonava. Furthermore, we continued with the wine cabinets to Magnusson Fine wine. We also continued with the curtain facade to the new star restaurant on Biskopsudden and the corner guards on SÖS.

We will soon start with the manufacture of wrought iron railings, door sections and a sheet metal cladding of a loading dock.

The brothers Edding's Forging

The brothers Eddings Smide worked with restaurant furnishings for Janax Snickeri. The fan room in Norra huset to kv Stettin was completed. They then continued with the assembly in Södra huset and various extra forging jobs. Furthermore, Eddings began assembling plates for two terraces at Gärdesskolan. They also started manufacturing a new floor in Bromma. Another project that Eddings worked on was two trellis for Viksjö Centrum. Soon, the iron gang will help SH-Bygg with two platforms.
